Tax

We have technical tax specialists with local knowledge to provide trusted tax advice and ensure that clients are compliant with tax regulations.
We provide tax planning and consulting services to assist our clients in developing and implementing tax solutions that minimize the impact of tax on business transactions.

Given the importance of tax services, especially in light of the new tax legislation in the State of Qatar, we provide a full range of tax services and advice, including:

Corporate Income Tax

    • We help our clients in tax registration, obtaining and renewing the tax card. All entities carrying out business activities in Qatar are required to register with the General Tax Authority (GTA) and obtain a tax card. It is mandatory to start the registration process and complete it within 60 days from the date of the commercial registration. The tax card will be issued in Dhareeba system when the registration is completed.

    • We assist our clients in preparation of tax return and tax filing and advising on annual tax payment. Taxpayers are required to file tax return and pay corporate income tax within 4 months of the financial year-end. Income tax is levied on foreign partners whether they operate through local companies, local branches, permanent establishment or in a joint venture with foreign enterprises.

    • We assist our clients in obtaining tax assessments and Non-objection Certificate (NOC) from the GTA.

    • On cases of additional tax and penalties imposed by GTA, we help our clients in filing objections and appeals before the Tax Appeal Committee.

Withholding Tax

Companies are required to comply with Withholding Tax (WHT) obligations when they are making payments to non-residents. As per Qatar Tax Law a WHT at the rate of 5% is levied on certain payments made to non-residents including royalties, interest, commissions, brokerage fees, directors' fees, and any other payments for services carried out inside or outside Qatar.

We assist our clients to comply with WHT obligations, provide WHT review and filings, provide WHT advisory and coordinate with the GTA to reconcile and resolve outstanding tax issues.

Value Added Tax (VAT)

The effective enactment date for the implementation of VAT in Qatar is yet to be announced.
We committed to advice our clients on the effective way for the implementation of VAT, and to prepare and file new VAT returns.

Excise tax

Excise tax applies in Qatar from 1 January 2019 and is imposed both on imports and locally produced excisable goods. Excise Tax applies to specific goods generally deemed harmful to human health, with the aim of reducing consumption.

We assist our clients to register, prepare and submit the quarterly excise tax return.
